High-quality sexuality and relationships education is crucial to the development of healthy attitudes around body safety, sex, sexuality and gender, and to preventing family, sex- and gender-based violence.
Establish a national Sexuality and Relationships curriculum that is:
- Comprehensive: The curriculum will reflect international best practices in Respectful Relationships and Sexualities education that;
- Includes information for people of all sexual orientations on issues such as sexual decision-making, emotional aspects of sex, consent, sex and gender diversity, homophobia, assertiveness, respect and peer pressure
- Removes taboos, shame, isolation about sexuality and gender identity, and help young people make safe, proud, respectful and informed choices
- Compulsory: The curriculum should be a core and stand-alone component of primary and secondary school education, from Foundation-Year 10; and
- Universal: The curriculum should be adopted by all primary and secondary schools, whether public or independent.
