The summer of 2009 has been an exciting one in the airline industry. There has been the introduction of Pet Airways, an airline just for pets and their owners who want their cherished four-legged friends to fly in comfort across the country. Next, the story of a woman who paid $32,000 to reserve the entire business class section on a flight from Paris to Tel Aviv so that she and her pet boxer could fly together.
And let’s not forget the naked passenger on a US Airways flight en-route to Los Angeles from Charlotte in July, followed by another male passenger who stripped on a Southwest Airlines flight from Oakland to St. Louis last week. What is it about flying that makes people act so strange? Obviously, there’s the passenger who has sipped one too many margaritas or a traveler who may be mentally unstable. And then, I suppose there are those travelers who want to join the “mile high club”, but that at least is generally something that takes place privately and not at your seat. Not being a member I have no real knowledge of the intricacies involved with having conjugal relations on an aircraft, nor do I suspect that’ll happen in my lifetime. However, an airline in Australia invites their in-flight guests to fly with them for that exact purpose. ‘Erotic Airways’ clearly caters to the adult market that is seeking something unique, whether it be an impulsive “sexperience” as the airline dubs it, or a special wedding or anniversary gift. The airline utilizes a Beechcraft 18 twin propeller aircraft that was first introduced in the late 1930s and saw a tremendous amount of service during World War II. Offering a “discreet and professionally conducted sexperience that you and your partner will always remember…..and completely eliminates ….the possibility of embarrassment!” The specially equipped aircraft features a double bed with “sensuous satin accoutrement's”, cabin/cockpit separation to ensure privacy during the flight, champagne, chocolates and a complimentary “safe sex” package with every flight. Customers may choose from the one hour long “stayers expedition”, 40-minute “players expedition” and even have the option to bring along extra guests to join in the fun! A certificate to formally record the adventure is presented upon landing.
