Lifestyle show aims to break the WA sex hoodoo
Sexpo comes to Perth May 21-24
05.04.2009 – More than a quarter of Western Australian adults watch adult films, according to a Sex in Australia survey by La Trobe University. But while it is legal to own and buy adult films and magazines in WA, you can go to jail for selling an adult film from an adult shop to an adult. With The Club X Sexpo coming to Perth later in the month for the first time in two years, General Manager Rob Godwin is hoping people will one day be able to celebrate their sexuality in a state with legislation that truly reflects community attitude. “In Western Australia, 76 per cent of adults support the legal and restricted availability of adult films,” Mr Godwin said. “It’s important that people can celebrate their sexuality and enjoy and maximise their sex life without feeling like they are doing something wrong. Wake up WA – sex is fun!” Sexpo, the world’s largest adult lifestyle show, runs from 21-24 May at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre and will be webcast live over the internet and via mobile phone for the first time in the event’s history. VIP packages will also be available for the first time.
“It’s a four-day public event that looks at all aspects of adult fun and entertainment, sexuality, health, and adult lifestyles. It gives people access to a huge amount of adult shopping, fun activities and non-stop entertainment, all in one convenient location. As part of Sexpo, The Australian Sex Party will be looking for a Western Australian representative to join the country’s most progressive political party. Party Convenor Fiona Patten will speak at the event and be recruiting members in a drive to change WA’s current legislation. The Sexpo exhibitor base has continually broadened since it first began 13 years ago and now incorporates aviation, wine tasting, marine sports, spa pools, hair and make up artists, physical fitness equipment and many other industries, including online dating sites. Up to 35,000 patrons are expected to attend over the four days, with over 180 stands with 60 different companies exhibiting their latest products and services. “Many companies are from WA, so support your local business – stimulate the economy, stimulate your bedroom!”
