Regulation and taxation of cannabis

Around one-third of Australian adults have used cannabis, yet the cultivation and sale of cannabis remain illegal across Australia. The regulation and taxing of this popular recreational drug would reduce crime, raise revenue and provide employment.

The Australian Sex Party will push to regulate and tax the production, distribution and sale of cannabis, in line with the regulation and taxation of alcohol. Allow private individuals to grow cannabis for personal use (akin to the home-brewing of alcohol), but restrict the sale of cannabis to those with a hard-to-get/easy-to-lose license.
