The Australian Sex Party’s candidate for tomorrow’s Broadmeadows by election, Merinda Davis, has posted $5.00 to Liberal Immigration spokesperson, Scott Morrison, to defray his personal tax contribution arising from transporting asylum seekers to Sydney to attend funerals of loved ones killed in the Christmas Island tragedy.
Mr Morrison, the Shadow Minister for Immigration, protested the moderate bill arising from transporting incarcerated asylum seekers to pay their final respects to deceased family members.
“I am very willing to spot Mr Morrison five dollars, to compensate for his personal portion of tax dollars spent, as well as for any pain and suffering he may have experienced being forced – against his will – to participate in an act of common human decency,” explained Ms Davis.
The Australian five-dollar note was carefully placed in a folded A4 sheet of paper, to better protect it in transit. “It was a little crumpled,” she explained. “However, it remains legal tender for the purposes of preventing politicians playing fast and easy with issues surrounding race and religion.”
Broadmeadows is the seat of former Victorian Premier, John Brumby, and contains large numbers of immigrants. The electorate is heavily dominated by Muslims and Catholics. Sex Party election posters have Arabic translations and freedom fighter quotes on them.
“My basic calculation indicates that Mr Morrison’s share of the bill was in fact far less than the five dollars I am posting him,” Ms Davis said.
“I am more than happy for Mr Morrison to retain any remaining funds to compensate for future acts of decency committed by the state on his behalf.”
