The Queensland Branch of the Australian Sex Party is dismayed by recent arrests for "wilful exposure" of at least half a dozen citizens enjoying naturism at Alexandra Bay on the Sunshine Coast. This remote beach within Noosa National Park has long been an unofficial nudist beach. The Sex Party's Queensland Branch is also perplexed by the inherent sexism of reports in the Sunshine Coast Daily newspaper that only males are capable of being arrested for "wilful exposure," as female genitalia do not "hang out!" Responsibility for such arrests is clearly at state government level.
We also note the seemingly high levels of local support for Alexandra Bay being clothing optional, with a survey on the Sunshine Coast Daily's website showing that more than 80% of respondents are supportive.
The Queensland Branch of the Australian Sex Party calls upon the Queensland government to appropriately amend the Queensland Summary Offences Act 2005, Number 4, Section 9 to allow local councils to designate specific clothing optional beaches, and will convene a clothing optional public support meeting at the southern end of Alexandra Beach at 11 AM on Saturday, October 3. All interested persons and the media are invited. Sex Party T-shirts will be available should the constabulary be sighted!
