Robin grew up in South Africa in the 70’s and 80’s where the anti-apartheid battle raged on the stage of an international cold war. 

On arriving in Australia in 2007 Robin saw how Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard were constrained by the religious elements within their party.

Then, with growing horror, he witnessed the freakish sideshow of Tony Abbott, Eric Abetz, Cory Bernardi and Kevin Andrews get elected to the main act. Then came the election of Campbell Newman in his home state of Queensland. Together, they unleashed a full scale assault on secular society by the lunatic religious right and he knew he could not stay silent any more.

Looking around for a political home, Robin read the policies of the Australian Sex Party and knew he had found the place for him.

Kirsty Patten worked as an observer on Japanese longliners in the Southern Ocean, spent 20 years teaching from Darwin down to Tasmania and back up to the Torres Strait, worked as a principal on Hayman Island and now runs a successful electric boat hire business in Noosa.
