AUSSIE SEX LIVES – WHAT IS ‘AVERAGE’?
Comprehensive national sex and relationship study launched

•       Are we really only having sex twice a week?
•       Are we all 7 out of 10s in bed?
•       And are only 50% of us happy with our sex lives?

We’re all doing it, but how, where, how often and who are we doing it with?  That’s what the first ever national sex census is set to uncover with a study open to all adult Australians, no strings attached!

To kick-start the campaign and to set the benchmark, Australia’s sexiest online dating site RedHotPie.com.au surveyed 4,238 of its members over the past week on what they believe is ‘average’ for the average Australian.  How much sex they believe the average Aussie is having, how happy they are with their sex lives and how good they think they are in the ‘between the sheets’.

Results show most of us think the average Aussie is having sex twice a week and they rate themselves seven out of ten between the sheets. While this amount seems healthy, most of us think an average Aussie is only mildly happy with their sex life (by giving it a five out of ten).  [Full results and a state-by-state breakdown are below].

The time has come to ascertain the truth about Aussie sex lives. Australians will now be able to compare themselves to the national average in the Great Australian Sex Census – a more comprehensive evaluation of our sex lives and relationships than peering through the neighbour’s blinds. The Census can be found at www.sexcensus.com.au

Relationship experts and authors Bessie Bardot and Geoff Barker are thrilled to finally lift the bed sheets and uncover the truth about Australia’s nocturnal activities. “What we’re doing here is breaking down bedroom doors to get to the bottom of the Australian sex life. The time has come to really clarify what is ‘normal’ in the ‘lucky’ country,” says Barker.

“While RedHotPie.com.au is proud to be behind this initiative, we don’t want the results to be indicative only of our 1.6 million member listings. The Census is open to every Australian adult to ensure we get the most accurate results” he explains.

Bardot has ensured that every facet of our romantic and sex lives will be screened in the Census. “We’re going to ask questions that the ABS Census wouldn’t dare!” she says. “To get a true sexual snapshot of the country, we cover everything from dating rules, sexual politics and physical ideals to one-night stands, open relationships and physical attributes!”

The Great Australian Sex Census is completely anonymous and will be conducted every two years.
