The Australian Sex Party supports transgender rights and calls for all transgender people to be able to amend the record of their birth to the gender that they live in and a new birth certificate issued reflecting that gender.

Currently the Births Deaths and Marriages ACT only allows those who have undergone extremely invasive and dangerous genital surgery to change the record of birth.  For medical, financial and personal reasons many transgendered people are unable to comply with those requirements.

With the ever increasing invasion into public privacy and the ever growing need to provide proof of identity for even the simplest of things, this situation needs to be rectified immediately.

In keeping with many other countries around the world, such as the UK and the USA, the Australian Sex Party(NSW)  will amend this outdated legislation in order that transgender people may live their lives with dignity and privacy.
