A Geelong radio station's new competition has been slammed as "pornography on training wheels" and criticised for objectifying women.

K-Rock is offering adult store gift packs to the winners of its best beach bum contest, which is heavily promoted on its website.

The public is encouraged to select their favourite from the entries posted online, including women and men in bathers, lingerie and underwear.

The contest has drawn the ire of grassroots activist group Collective Shout, which has recently taken on Geelong-based stationary chain Typo over its porn-themed products.

Collective spokesperson Melinda Liszewski said K-Rock's promotion drew comparisons to a New Zealand radio station's wet T-shirt competition.

"It is basically pornography on training wheels," she said.

Senator Conroy not dropping internet filter despite being 'unlikely to get anywhere' PDF Print E-mail

Communications Minister Stephen Conroy last night remained stalwart in his support for Labor's controversial mandatory internet filtering scheme in a heated debate on ABC TV.

On the Q&A program last night, viewer William Rollo from South Australia asked Senator Conroy whether Labor's support for the filter was pointless, given that it may not have the numbers to get through Parliament.

"The Coalition aren’t backing it... and the Greens aren't too keen on it either. Under the new paradigm it's realistically unlikely to get anywhere.

"Do you therefore think it's fair for voters to see your insistence on this policy as a time and money waster?"

However Senator Conroy said a review of the Refused Classification category of content still had to be undertaken before legislation was introduced to Parliament.

"You don't, simply because you've got a lot of criticism, say 'well I'm going to run away from that policy'," he said.

Mateship is the cornerstone of the Australian way of life until sex enters the picture, that is.

Early results from the bi-annual Great Australian Sex Census reveal four out of 10 people would have sex with a friend's partner if the opportunity arose.

But sex is not everything two-thirds of Australians said they remain with their current partner for love even though their sex life is unsatisfactory.

Australians named tradies, men in uniform and emergency service workers as the hottest-looking workers.'

Almost one in 10 women wants to feature in a porno, 5 per cent of men admitted they fantasise about having sex with a transvestite, and 56 per cent are turned off by fake breasts.

Victorians are the most desperate to have sex with a celebrity and almost half are unsatisfied with their real sex life.

Top of the Victorian sex bucket list is being part of a threesome and partaking in an orgy.

A blogger who characterised anti-porn activist Melinda Tankard Reist as a ''fundamentalist Christian'' says she has been asked to apologise - or be sued.

Tankard Reist - who briefed lawyers to warn off liberal blogger Jennifer Wilson - says it's not being called Christian she objects to, but the claim that she is ''deceptive and duplicitous about her religious beliefs''.

She has sought legal advice from Canberra defamation lawyer Ric Lucas, who once represented Opposition Leader Tony Abbott and former treasurer Peter Costello and their wives in a successful action against publisher Random House over false claims in a memoir by Bob Ellis.

While Tankard Reist has not gone so far as to issue court proceedings yet, she complains social media has intensified the level of vituperation against outspoken figures such as herself.

Gay rights activists plan to storm the Australian Open in protest at anti-gay comments by Australian tennis champion Margaret Court.

Activists plan to inundate Margaret Court Arena and raise hundreds of rainbow flags. Thousands of supporters have already backed the protest.

Protest co-ordinator Doug Pollard urged people to wear rainbow colours to the event each day.

"We are not asking for a lot of noise," he said.

"We just want to say that we don't agree with all the lies Margaret Court has been peddling. People think that she has got away with it for too long and have heard enough of her trading in on her tennis halo."

The Facebook site responsible for starting the initiative was created in the US, but has used the Australian Open to make its point.

"Don't give in to hatred or be silenced by apathy or fear," the online call to arms states.

"We ask that you unfurl your rainbow flag in pride to support the gay community."

Australian Sex Party president Fiona Patten said the Australian Open was a great platform to promote tolerance.

Jail for penis tattoo PDF Print E-mail

An amateur tattoo artist who drew an unwanted 40cm penis on another man's back has been jailed for three months.

Ipswich District Court heard Matthew Francis Brady, 22, was asked by the victim to etch a Chinese Yin and Yang symbol with a dragon and tiger on his back.

But Brady instead inked the crude image and then bashed the victim when he was finished.

Crown prosecutor Nici Schmitt said on the day in question, October 18 last year, at Ebbw Vale, Brady convinced the victim to go ahead with the tattoo. When the victim complained it was hurting, Brady insisted he keep going.

The court heard Brady started drawing the circle for the Yin and Yang, which he then turned into testicles, a penis and a slogan implying the man was gay because Brady had taken offence to a comment the victim made.

Brady told the victim to keep the tattoo covered for a few weeks but the man showed a friend and they contacted police. The court heard the victim had moved away because he was too scared to stay.

Brady pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm while armed, assault occasioning bodily harm and performing a high-risk service without holding an infection control qualification.

Defence barrister John McInnes said Brady had a disadvantaged background.

He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended after three months, and three years probation.

The story made international headlines after The QT first reported the case. In July the QT revealed Ultimate Image Tattoo on Brisbane St did cover-up work on the victim for free.

The claws are out over a new energy drink just arrived in Queensland called Pussy.

As distributors plan to saturate the state's shops with the product, a furore is already stirring about the double meaning in the name and its placement alongside other soft drinks in family stores.

The drink, backed by Richard Branson's children Sam and Holly, is the centre of some overtly provocative advertising, with photos of naked women with fully clothed men in suggestive sex poses.

Wavell Heights mother-of-three Jacqui Nixon recently complained to the owner of a Brisbane fish and chip shop when her eight-year-old daughter commented on the name of the drink in front of customers in the store.

"It was embarrassing. It is not something I expect to deal with when out with my kids," Ms Nixon said.
