Some might be inclined to dismiss the recent findings of Red Hot Pie.com’s Great Australian Sex Census as mere novelty.
For instance, is it really imperative that we know farmers have the largest average penis size in Australia or that threesomes are Australia’s number one sexual bucket list item? Probably not.
But what about this? The vast majority of single Aussies are unsatisfied with their sex lives.
According to the census findings, only 22.9 per cent of single Australians claimed they were fulfilled in the bedroom.
Leader of the Australian Sex Party Fiona Patten believes this dissatisfaction may have more to with loneliness than a simple want for nookie.
“Single people have less sex than anyone. But low sexual satisfaction means more than lack of sex. It’s also the lack of intimacy. Everyone needs that connection in their lives,” Ms Patten said.
Married swingers reported the highest sexual satisfaction at over 73 per cent, while those in exclusive marriages claimed only 44 per cent.

We are very excited to announce "Black & White & Sex", a film that debunks myths about sex workers and sex, is available for LIMITED screenings at Hoyts Cinemas, EQ, Sydney. As an organisation that supports ending discrimination against sex workers, we would love to see you there!
The Australian Sex Party has long supported Black & White & Sex, and Fiona Patten has endorsed the project. Variety described Black & White & Sex as "A full-tilt examination of the sex-for-sale biz that effectively challenges stereotypes and is well served by dashes of droll humor." Youth authorities have called for students to receive porn education at school, following research showing most kids have viewed explicit content online by the age of 11.
Research also reveals 92 per cent of boys and 61 per cent of girls aged between 13 and 16 have been exposed to pornography online.
For 84 per cent of boys and 60 per cent of girls that exposure was accidental; the result of web pop-ups, a misspelled word in a search engine or even innocent searches for information about games and animals.
Educators have warned the portrayal of women in pornographic films could play a role in shaping children's views on sex and male-female relationships.
Leading pornography researcher Marree Crabbe yesterday said porn films gave "really unhealthy messages" about how women should be treated and what they enjoyed as part of sex.

Gay couples who dined with Prime Minister Julia Gillard last night say they didn't manage to sway her into supporting same-sex marriage.
But Ms Gillard was respectful of their stance and acknowledged that this was inevitable.
"People are going to say 'did you say the magic thing to change her mind' and that's obviously not going to be the case," Sharon Dane, who married her partner Elaine Crump in Canada, told ABC radio.
"She is still standing by her position, but she made it clear that she thinks change is inevitable and there will be international pressure that will make change inevitable as well."
The occasion was organised by activist group GetUp and Australian Marriage Equality which paid $31,000 for the dinner date with the Prime Minister at a charity auction last year.

Dear Margaret,Do you remember the first time we were on the same court?
I sure do. It was at Wimbledon. I was about 17. You went to hit some serves on the clay court out back, and I helped you pick up your balls. I remember looking up to you. You were one of my role models, and I felt so privileged to be on the same court with you, even as your ball girl.
I think that is why it truly pains me now that we can't see eye to eye. And while I still admire all your accomplishments on the court, I'm disappointed by your inability to acknowledge me as your equal off the court.
There is so much I would like to say here but so little space, so I will try to be brief.
Giving gays and lesbians the right to marry isn't just a gay rights issue; it is a human rights issue. It is about equal rights and protection under the law for all human beings. Quite simply, it is the right thing to do. It most certainly is a secular issue and not a religious one.
One does not need to be a Christian in order to fall in love and want to marry, straight or gay, otherwise atheists would not be allowed to marry, right? Marriage can be and often is a religious celebration but legally speaking, it is a contract between two people who promise to love each other.

The first openly gay state MP, Ian Hunter, will marry his long-term partner, Leith Semmens, in Spain at the end of the year.
It is believed Mr Hunter will be the first sitting gay politician of any Australian parliament to be married, although the ACT's Andrew Barr has entered a civil union with his partner, The Advertiser reported.
Mr Hunter and Mr Semmens, who have been together for more than 20 years, had planned to marry in New York last year but were held up because the Federal Government refused to grant the necessary paperwork that would have allowed the ceremony to be conducted in the US.
"We have had a long-term plan to go to Spain ... so we decided to get married there," Mr Hunter said in an interview for today's saweekend magazine, which tells the story of his long climb to a position in Cabinet.
He said it would be a "very traditional" ceremony. Mr Hunter was elected to Parliament in 2006 and promoted to Cabinet last October by Premier Jay Weatherill. His portfolios include social inclusion, disabilities, social housing and communities.

A Geelong radio station's new competition has been slammed as "pornography on training wheels" and criticised for objectifying women.
K-Rock is offering adult store gift packs to the winners of its best beach bum contest, which is heavily promoted on its website.
The public is encouraged to select their favourite from the entries posted online, including women and men in bathers, lingerie and underwear.
The contest has drawn the ire of grassroots activist group Collective Shout, which has recently taken on Geelong-based stationary chain Typo over its porn-themed products.
Collective spokesperson Melinda Liszewski said K-Rock's promotion drew comparisons to a New Zealand radio station's wet T-shirt competition.
"It is basically pornography on training wheels," she said.
